New Convent Hill building offers computers, training for elderly

July 08 2009

There are no age limits for deserving access to quality technology. Such is the attitude of Convent Hill, an elderly housing complex that recently celebrated its grand opening in Milwaukee.

The Milwaukee Housing Authority complex—noted for its environmental sustainability—also includes a 12-computer Neighborhood Network Center accessible to Convent Hill and neighborhood residents. Through federal grants, the complex is providing a variety of services, including computer training, adult educational programming, access to job-training and job-related information, and healthcare information. Convent Hill residents also receive 3 years of free wireless internet access through a partnership with One Economy’s AT&T Access All Program.

Wired Wisconsin understands technology opens doors to better information, education, training and health. With assistance provided when needed, the quality of life for elderly citizens can be significantly improved by access to technologies like high-speed internet.
