1.      Tell us about your organization.

Privacy Counsel LLC is a law firm working with companies and organizations to protect their people, their data, and their reputations. We develop corporate policies and train employees so that everyone understands the groundrules when using social media. I am a privacy professional with 15 years experience advising clients on data security issues, best practices for management of personally identifiable information, FTC advertising requirements, compliance with law enforcement information requests, civil electronic discovery, state data breach notification requirements, and federal policy advocacy.

2.      What kinds of technology does your organization utilize?

Broadband Internet access, wireless, many forms of online communication & Web 2.0 technologies.

3.      What technological challenges does your organization currently face?

None.

4.      What, if any, technology policy issues are of importance to your organization?

Privacy & data security and the use of social media are the key policy issues my organization addresses. I also have a great deal of interest in and experience with educational technology, broadband deployment, and online safety issues, and am generally interested in technology policy issues.

5.      How does your organization see the future of technology in Wisconsin?

Fostering a robust, wired, easily accessible online presence is key to Wisconsin’s economic development and long term social & economic health. I’m committed to that including data security & privacy, as well as people who understand the tools and their implications.
