Eleven tons of computer equipment donated

August 24 2012

Goodwill Industries of South Central Wisconsin, one of Wired Wisconsin’s partner organizations, recently held an e-recycling drive in the Madison area that collected 11 tons of computer equipment.

“I am thrilled and very grateful that so many Madison area residents donated their computer equipment to Goodwill,” said Barbara Leslie, President and CEO of Goodwill Industries of South Central Wisconsin. “We use the revenue that these and other donations generate to support our mission of building better communities by providing employment, housing and support to people with disabilities and other challenges.”

Goodwill accepts donations of working and nonworking computer equipment year round, free of charge. The recent collection drives were held in an effort to increase awareness about the program.

They will be holding another free computer collection drive from noon to 3 p.m. on Sunday, September 9, at its donation center located at 2902 American Legion Drive, in Portage.
