Deadline for No Call List is August 31

August 27 2012

Registering your telephone number will minimize telemarketing calls

MILWAUKEE — Wisconsin residents can register their landlines and cell phone numbers on the Wisconsin Department of Agriculture, Trade and Consumer Protection’s No Call list to reduce unwanted telemarketing calls for the next two years.

“Modern technology makes us very accessible both at home and on the go,” says Thad Nation, executive director of Wired Wisconsin. “This free service is a way to regulate that accessibility to telemarketers and other unsolicited callers.”

Wisconsin consumers can sign up for the No Call list by calling the automated 1-866-9NO-CALL (1-866-966-2255) number or by visiting the No Call website signup page here. Signing up through August 31 means that new numbers will be added to the quarterly list provided to telemarketers in October.

Consumers who have registered in the past should also re-register their numbers, as numbers only remain on the list for two years.

Cellular and landline numbers can be registered at any time on the No Call list.
